□ Name: Barry aka Belial
□ Journal: dontsaymyname
□ Series: Vassalord
□ Canon point: Volume 4 Chapter 18 right after Charlie tackles Barry away from Johnny.

□ History: Barry was created about 700 years ago by the demon Belial. Belial is no ordinary demon, but one of the Prince's of Hell. Not much is given about Belial's own history, but we do know that years prior to Barry's own creation he turned one Johnny Rayflo into a vampire. Johnny had been a knight, religious and meant to be above the influence of such creatures like Belial. Johnny wanted the strength to be able to protect his princess and the people close to him, so one day he asked the demon for the power to do so. Belial agreed and changed him into a vampire, a progenitor made from a demon and not another vampire. The demon was entranced by Johnny, that such a man could succumb to his nature and allow himself to become a vampire was beyond intriguing. There was however one problem with this one sided obsession. Belial had no way to stay on Earth with Johnny to keep an eye on his creation. In order to do this, he created Barry, then also known as Belial, to walk the Earth alongside Johnny.

He told Belial that he was created for Johnny and passed on his own love of the vampire into Barry's psyche. Along with this love for Johnny, Barry was also created as an incubus, a creature that lived off of lust and sex from other's. Belial believed that Johnny would stay with Barry to fuel the incubus's needs, but even without Johnny he would be able to care for himself. Barry would gain that same obsession that Belial had for Johnny Rayflo and he would follow him across the continents in order to be with him.

In the beginning, Barry's relationship with Johnny was everything Barry could have asked for. The vampire and incubus lived together in lavish comfort, mansions, parties, and the arts would color their lives for decades. Johnny was giving into the monster Barry was telling him he was. Part of Barry's job was to help Johnny along with his fall, changing him more and more into a monster, a demon, much like Barry was. While Johnny's affections were still strong, he took a rib from Johnny and in a mimicry of Adam and Eve he created Johnny's twin sister Rayfelle. Barry's power came of course from Belial though he could not create another vampire directly he could help to create another creature from Johnny's own body and blood. Unlike Johnny, Rayfelle did not have a human core, and thus would fall into temptation far easier than her older brother. Barry has far less interest in Rayfelle, but because of her nature he knew it would cause Johnny some amount of pain if Rayfelle didn't learn some human compassion. Barry cares greatly for Johnny, but he can't help but shake things up now and again.

The trio would live together for some time, but all good things would come to an end. Johnny would start to rebel against the demonic nature Barry was trying to instill in him. The vampire wanted to hold onto his humanity, and though he would try he couldn't really save Rayfelle. He would leave her with some form of conscience, but she would still fall into old habits and there was nothing he could really do to stop the inevitable fall. Johnny would leave the family and then the real cat and mouse game would begin.

Barry could not handle Johnny being away from him. He would leave as well to chase after Johnny. It wouldn't matter where the vampire ran to, what life he may have built for himself, Barry would always be there to find him and tear Johnny's world to pieces to convince him that the only life he could live safely was with him. Barry was extremely jealous of any of Johnny's lovers, and he would have many, without fail Barry would find those lovers and kill them if only to prove that the only lover Johnny could have was Barry.

There was another purpose to Johnny's creation. Belial wanted to create more vampires in the world and trusted Barry to help lead Johnny down that path. This was part of why Barry was working to help quell Johnny's humanity, and as that had failed he tried to convince Johnny that the mortal lovers he was taking would only disappoint him. He would have to create other vampires if he wanted any company other than Barry, but doing so would cause Johnny to lose even more of his humanity in the vampire's eyes. Even with that, Johnny did not want to be alone and in the years that would follow, he'd create one other vampire Charles J. Chrishunds aka Charley aka Cherry who would become a demon hunter specializing in vampires. Johnny would hide Charles's existence from Barry in the years to follow, though even that secret can't remain forever.

Barry is very intelligent and knows that in time Johnny will have to come back to him, at least that's how he see's it. During his chase for Johnny's affection, he creates another vampire from Johnny's own flesh and blood, a young child, Harold Wayne. In the years that would follow Harold's existence would come to be a major plot point in Johnny's life as he would be the creator of a drug meant to turn humans into vampires.

Johnny suspects that Barry may be behind this new drug, but with no positive proof he has no choice but to make his own location known to Barry. He's well aware that by now the incubus's net is closing in on him. Johnny had not known just how close to finding him Barry was until one night he comes to Johnny's window. Calling out to him with Charles's voice, Johnny allows Barry into the room with dire consequences to himself. It's been far too long since Barry's had a taste of Johnny's flesh and blood, and he seduces Johnny into bed, raping the vampire. Barry is stronger than Johnny, and he overpowers him easily enough. He kept the guise of Charles on his features when the attack started, but by the time it's ended he's back to his normal self. That Barry would even know of Charles is a huge concern for Johnny. He knows Barry is stronger than the both of them and that Barry had no qualms in hurting others. He'd experienced first hand how sadistic his former lover was, and he wanted to spare Johnny from that.

Barry can't have Charles interfering with his plans to have Harold create more vampires, nor could he allow Charles to stay between he and Johnny. He goes out that same night to find Charles, tracking Minea (Johnny's servant who could take the form of a cat.) who was on her way to warn Charles that Johnny was in danger. Barry had wounded her when she tried to protect her master and that was how Charles found her. Taking the form of a young girl, Barry approached the vampire, trying to take Minea away from Charles to silence her. Charles had no idea who he was talking to, and Minea's life was spared only by her skittish behaviour and Charles's concern that she might try to scratch the young girl. Both would get away for the time being, but Barry isn't concerned.

Once Johnny's well enough to move again, he meets Barry on his own terms, telling the incubus that he's ready to continue their cat and mouse game in earnest. Johnny knows it will keep Charles safe and give him the time he needs to find the creator of the vampire drug. Barry is not concerned about his other plans, trusting that they'll go his way, and if he can catch Johnny and keep him all the better for himself. The two continue the chase while Charles searches for the answers he's looking for. Charles doesn't have time to search for Johnny as well though he is worried about his sire. It isn't until their paths cross in Rome that the three meet again.

In Rome, Barry meets Charles and Johnny at the Opera. Charles had since learned of Barry's existence and he showed himself to the demon in a challenge for Johnny. Barry accepts and while Charles is pulling Johnny away from the Opera to head up to the roof and escape, Barry whisks Johnny away in a flurry of bats with Charles following close behind.

Charles doesn't make it in time, but Barry doesn't leave the vampire hunter waiting for long. He appears before Charles in the same guise of the young girl that he'd used before, taunting Charles. This way Charles could see how close he could have been to finding Barry and potentially freeing his master. Barry doesn't keep this appearance for long. He changes to appear as Johnny had looked when he'd been a priest, speaking to Charles and telling him about a darkness that longed for the light twisting words from the Bible to suit his need. Barry, like Johnny, would not be able to speak actual words from the Bible without doing harm to himself, the demonic blood in his names preventing it. He wanted to set Charles off guard so he could make his move and kill the hunter, but Johnny would not have it.

Johnny tries to stop Charles by appearing and speaking true words of the Bible to distract Barry, though it would injure Johnny. Barry was too strong of a demon to have the words really effective him without one very important key. Barry is not the incubus's real name; he is named after his father Belial, but without knowledge of that name there is no way to have power over him. With Barry distracted by Johnny's threat to his own life, Charles went on the attack and electrocuted Barry causing severe burns. Thanks to his regenerative abilities the electrocution didn't stop Barry. Knowing that they wouldn't stand a chance because of Barry's demonic powers, Johnny tells Charles that they need to escape; Johnny's already internally injured because of the words he'd spoken, but Charley knows running is not going to work anymore. Instead, Charles takes Johnny up to a safe room in the Opera house and continues the fight.

Going back to the battle only proved Johnny's point. Barry could regenerate at an incredible rate, faster than either Charles or Johnny, and cutting off limbs was proving to be against Charles advantage. Needing to turn the tide somehow or risk losing Charles, Johnny recited a verse from the Bible that would contain Barry's true name, as he was forbidden from ever speaking it. Before Johnny would be able to finish, Barry jumps up to the room Johnny is in, but before he can stop Johnny from revealing his secret, Charles tackles him away from his master….It is in that moment, that Barry will be whisked away to the City of Ariel.

□ Personality: At first glance the casual observer would see a man, woman, child, or perhaps their closest love when looking at Barry. It all depends on what he wants you to see though his form of choice is that of an angelic looking young man, long silver blonde hair, large wine colored eyes, and a cherub face. A person may be compelled to go up to Barry on looks alone, drawn lik a moth to the flame. If he's a woman, men who are bolder would go up to him, or perhaps if the man is shy he would cast a sweet smile in their direction to lure them in. To the unknowing victim, Barry is a perfect angel, sweet, and charming. Barry has no problem lying and he'll say whatever he needs to in order to gain someone's trust. He's a flawless con artist and can win an unsuspecting heart quite easily. One would never know that underneath that smile was a demon waiting to feast on unsuspecting flesh.

Assuming a person doesn't immediately become Barry's meal, the incubus can be akin to a cat with a mouse. He enjoys playing with his prey and will lead a person on for as long as it takes for him to get bored. For people who have known him long enough, such as Johnny, they'd know the true sadist who lies underneath the angelic mask. Being a demon has some given characteristics and among those are Barry's taste for causing pain -- Mental or physical it doesn't matter much to Barry. The demon would just as easily break someone down with well placed words as strike a cat-o-nines across a person's back. As an incubus he feeds on souls and negative emotions are most delicious, being the cause of that negativity is of course a plus.

Mostly, Barry doesn't want to get involved in trivial affairs. He'd much rather sit back and watch the drama unfold even if he's the one who started it. He's an instigator but knows human nature well enough to trust them to create a mess on their own. Barry likes to be in control and this is only part of why keeping his real name a secret is so important. If someone has control over him he has to do their bidding whether he wants to do it or not.

Johnny however is a very special case. If the drama is unfolding around Johnny, Barry wants to be as far into that business as he can get. He loves Johnny deeply though he has a strange way of showing it, for a demon taking the flesh of someone into you is a high form of love, literally becoming one with the other person. Barry would never kill Johnny; that would defeat the purpose, but to cut into Johnny and know that his body will only renew itself makes Johnny the perfect companion for him. Barry in turn will offer himself to Johnny, allowing the other to drink from his neck and take as much of him as Johnny wishes as long as he can be inside of the vampire in some form.

As an incubus, sex fascinates Barry. He may not lay with other people as often as he'll tear into their flesh for their food, but he will lay with Johnny any chance he gets. Knowing Johnny prefers men he always appears to Johnny as a male and never the woman he can also become. Besides, a woman can't penetrate as a man can and that pain is part of the fun.

Pain and pleasure are one in Barry's book which is why he acts the way his does towards Johnny. Barry does love Johnny to a point well past obsession. He is Johnny's shadow, and will forever follow Johnny to the farthest corners of the Earth in order to be with him. It hurts Barry that Johnny wants nothing more to do with him, but as part of his nature and purpose he can't let go of his love for Johnny. It wont stop him from having fun on the side, but at the end of the day it is always Johnny whom he loves.

In the city, this would not stop him from engaging in sexual acts with people he doesn't know. If his favorite toy isn't around, Barry knows full well how to entertain himself.

An interesting quirk about Barry is that he seems to enjoy tea. He can be found drinking it if he happens to be in the human world. He also has a penchant for formal clothing. His typical attire is a grey pin striped suit and a fur lined cape. Even as a woman he wears a long pale evening gown and as a child his dress is ruffled, and the cape even more extravagant. Unless it's right after sex his hair is always in a perfect braid. Not to be deceived by his looks, Barry isn't worried about getting dirty. Blood stains are easily removed when you can recreate your clothing at will.

□ Age: Somewhere around 700 or so. It's never specified in canon.

□ Gender: Typically seen as male however, with the return of his powers, he'd be able to switch at will between male and female or any combination thereof.

□ Appearance: Long silvery blond hair that's typically tied back in a thick braid, wine red colored eyes, and an angel's face. Barry loves the fancy things in life and is usually seen wearing a grey pin-stripe suit with a blood red cloak with black fur trim over his shoulders. He's not overly tall for a man, about average height. All together he looks like a beautiful human man.

With the return of his powers he could look like whomever he chooses.

□ Abilities/Powers: Body Mimicry - As an incubus, Barry has the ability to take the form of your dearest love. Closed doors and windows may prevent Barry from coming inside a home, but the best way to work around that little problem is by showing the person someone they trust. The use of this technique isn't just for getting inside of people's defenses. It can be a used to mess with a person's head to the fullest extent, making someone people the person they love doesn't love them or would hurt them.

Age/Gender Manipulation - Barry's normal appearance is of a long haired young man. When the situation calls for it he can de-age himself into the appearance of a young child though his hair retains the same length in proportion to himself. It's also had to tell in either form whether Barry is a boy or a girl on first glance, and he can use it to his advantage.

Demonic Strength, Speed, and Stamina- Barry is seen to overpower Johnny and holds his own against Cherry while fighting him, both are vampires and have increased speed and strength. His healing abilities, as described below, are also faster than a vampires which makes him all the more difficult to injure. He can move at a speed fast enough and strong enough to use his hands like knives to cut or stab.

Regeneration - Even when hurt to what should be death, Barry can heal himself to be good as new. It's not instantaneous when the damage is severe such as decapitation or stabbing through the heart, and severe injury can be used to buy the attacker some time if they get inside Barry's defenses. Though severe only means as far as blows that should otherwise kill Barry. Chopping off limbs doesn't work and will also heal at a supernatural rate. This can also be used to Barry's advantage making his limbs temporarily longer than they would be normally. He can also still control the separate body parts, such as head and body, so that his body may move without his head in order to reattach itself or attack.

Teleportation - He can go virtually anywhere. His body will dissolve into bat like creatures that can fly wherever he wills them.

Energy Waves - He can manipulate energy to push back back and deflect attacks. A simple hand gesture is all that it takes.

Don't Say My Name - Knowing Barry's true name, Belial, grants a person control over him and can strip him of his powers. As a result it's a closely guarded secret. He can also gain control over a person, owning them in a sense, if he knows their true name. This is what makes it possible for him to keep track of Johnny since he knows his real name.

God's Word/Holy Objects - Barry can be burned by holy objects, crosses, holy water, etc. but with his regenerative abilities the effect is only temporary. Reciting the Bible has no affect on him though he can't do it himself.

□ Personal Items: His pin-stripe suit, cloak, dress shoes, white long sleeved button up shirt, white ascot, and white gloves, a light grey fluffy bath robe, and his familiar ( http://puu.sh/66mzR.jpg ) which can fit easily in the palm of Barry's hand and is roughly the size of a large gumball.

□ First Person Sample: [ Barry was sitting on his sofa, one leg crossed over the other, staring directly at a full length mirror that had been propped up just for the occasion. He was glad to find that mirrors were cheap enough in this place, especially with the strange way their communication devices worked. ]

Greetings, Ariel.

[ Barry smiled, the expression sweet as honey. ]

I'm sure considering the nature of this place, it must be rather strange to have someone say they're happy to be here, and while I'm far from pleased to have been pulled so suddenly from my home, I can say that the nature of this place does intrigue me greatly.

[ He tilted his head to the side slightly, the expression coy and impish. ]

I do hope we can all become better acquainted, though I'm not quite myself. It's rather annoying not having my full abilities here, I'd like to hope there's some way I can get them back. I don't suppose any of you lovely people would know how do you? I'd be most grateful if you can tell me.

Perhaps we can even strike a deal of sorts?

I'm afraid I am also in need of a better profession. Construction work just doesn't suit someone of my delicate nature.

[ He straightens himself, a gloved hand running casually across his leg as if dusting off dirt. ]

It truly is my pleasure to meet your acquaintances, I hope to hear from you soon.

[ The video disconnects. ]
